I am a utilitarian artist. Some might say this is a contradiction in terms, because the more you try to enhance the functionality of an object the more you are restricted in your artistic freedom. But I see this just as an additional challenge which makes the creative process even more interesting.
By creating pottery that keeps a perfect balance between form and function I bring
esthetics and uniqueness to objects of everyday life. My earth tones and warm colors as well as some of the shapes are inspired by
Mother Nature.
Last but not least I enjoy all the other aspects of pottery, especially interacting with people: whether it is teaching
at a community college or attending art and craft shows. It gives me great satisfaction when people who have acquired pieces of my
work tell me how much they enjoy my pottery – often still after years of use.
I truly love this craft and I am looking forward
to many more years of throwing pottery.
